How Is fuel efficiency different from fuel economy?

  • Fuel Efficiency – how efficiently a vehicle uses fuel, namely gasoline.
  • Fuel Economy – how far a vehicle can go on a specific amount of fuel

These two terms can be confused or conflated. All you need to know is that when you’re evaluating cars with fuel consumption in mind, we have made it easy to narrow your search with this guide.

Simply look for the symbol to denote those vehicles in our inventory with an MPG (Miles Per Gallon) of 30 or Higher*. Additionally, you can find the MPG ratings for all of our NEW and USED inventory here! Just select the HWY MPG option on the left-hand filter.

Shopping for a New Fuel Efficient Vehicle

What contributes to fuel and financial savings?

  • Aerodynamics – the design and shape of the car
  • Engine Type – Four cylinder vs v6 vs v8 vs diesel
  • Size & Weight – the bigger and heavier the vehicle, the more power (fuel) needed to make it go
  • Axle Ratio – if this is a variable option and you have fuel efficiency in mind, go for the smaller ratio as this will give you the better fuel economy
  • Speed – this is a behavioral piece to consider, as sudden bursts of speed or just generally having a heavy foot (ie, speeding) can nullify the MPG number. The EPA tests cars using a precise set of conditions to arrive at the MPG number – this includes driving 55 MPH on the highway.

Servicing Your Fuel Efficient Vehicle

You can help maintain the fuel economy – and overall longevity – of your vehicle and investment by keeping up with service for your vehicle.

  • Fuel System Service – This is recommended every 30,000 miles and is intended to remove buildup in the fuel system and aid in more efficient fuel consumption and usage by the vehicle.
  • Tires – make sure your tires are properly inflated. And remember that this is especially true in the heat of summer and the cold of winter when temperatures are more extreme.

What Factors Affect My Acura Interest Rates

Your Acura interest rates depend on multiple factors, some of which you can control and others based on vehicle conditions. Elements like your credit score and history, financing term lengths, and what type of car you’re looking at all impact your interest rates. Specific rates can often fluctuate depending on your exact terms, but Priority Acura has laid out the key factors below. Credit History The biggest factor determining your interest payments is your credit score and history. Lenders are more willing to offer lower rates if you have a long history of prompt payments across your loans and credit cards. We work with drivers who have both good and bad credit or who haven’t developed enough credit history, but your interest rates may be higher if you’re in the latter categories. Vehicle Type You can finance both new and pre-owned Acura models, and which option you choose can also influence your interest rate. When financing similar cars for the same period of time, interest payments will tend lower for new cars versus used ones, as lenders view pre-owned cars as riskier due to their use and wear. Luxury models and sports cars also typically have higher interest rates since they cost more to repair. Loan Term Lengths If you’re looking to reduce your interest rates, you should look for shorter terms, around three to four years in length. Your immediate payments will be higher, but rates will often be lower and you won’t pay as much interest over time. Longer loans require smaller monthly payments but boost interest rates significantly as a tradeoff. Do Acura Vehicles Require Premium Gas

You may be wondering: do Acura vehicles require premium gas, and will I be able to drive if I stick with regular fuel? Many Acura models recommend premium gas to get the best performance, but it isn’t strictly required in most cases. Here’s everything you need to know about which fuel your vehicle needs and why premium makes a difference, courtesy of Priority Acura. What Is Premium Gas? Premium gas is the highest grade of fuel available at the pump, increasing octane thanks to finer quality and cleaner consistency. It’s typically required or recommended for vehicles with higher performance since they resist uncontrolled ignition and engine knock. Fuels with octanes at 91 or higher are usually classified as premium. Is Premium Required for Acura Vehicles? Your Acura owner’s manual may call premium gas the recommended fuel, but this is only a suggestion. Premium gas isn’t required for most Acura models to run; you can use lower octane fuels if you want to save money at the pump and the car will still work. However, you won’t get the best performance from your vehicle unless you opt for premium grade. Why Is Premium Recommended? Acura recommends premium gas for models like the Acura RDX and Acura TLX. These engines are built with higher-grade fuels in mind, with high-compression powertrains and turbochargers that run hotter on average. Premium gas is more resistant to ambient engine heat, helping to better manage lubrication and temperature in your engine compartment. 3 Benefits of an Acura Lease

If you’re unsure about securing an Acura lease compared to financing a car, you’ll want to consider some of the benefits. When you lease a model, you can lower your monthly payments, reduce your upfront costs, and easily return the vehicle with no other commitments. Here are the benefits of leasing with the expert dealers at Priority Acura. Lower Monthly Payments Perhaps the biggest benefit of an Acura lease compared to financing is potentially paying less each month on your terms. You aren’t paying the full purchase price of the model during the lease, only the expected depreciation and other fees and taxes. Depending on your term length, you can often significantly reduce your monthly payments when leasing over financing a similar vehicle. Fewer Upfront Expenses You can also reduce your immediate expenses when you lease an Acura vehicle. Many leases either require a smaller down payment or none at all, so you don’t have to save up as much to get started. Upfront fees will also be clearly listed in your lease, meaning you know exactly what you’re paying at signing. Easy Return Options When you lease an Acura model, you have multiple options when the lease term ends, giving you more flexibility for returning the car. If you want to lease a newer model, you can simply exchange the model and start your new terms right away. You can also simply turn the vehicle in and leave it at that, or if you really like the car, you can transfer it to a financing plan to pay the rest of it off.
